Newark Hurler Wins ESPC Most Valuable Player Award Tuesday, November 1st , 2016
For fans of the Newark Eagles, there was certainly no doubting the value of Zach Hoelzer this season.
Now the 38-year-old pitcher has an award to show just how valuable he was, as he's been named the 2016 Eastern Semi-Pro Circuit Most Valuable Player Award winner.
His remarkable campaign saw him put up a 17-6 record. In 32 starts he piled up 222.1 innings, had 200 strikeouts with 39 walks and a 2.47 ERA. Hoelzer held opposing hitters to a .237 batting average and compiled a 6.7 WAR.
