Benton Garners ESPC Top Skipper Award Sunday, October 30th , 2016 D.C. Potomacs field manager Jacob Benton has brought a winning attitude to the team and the city. His no-nonsense approach, work ethic and baseball experience have paved the way for success. This season the Potomacs parlayed his managerial skills and some talented ballplayers into a first place spot in the Eastern Semi-Pro Circuit standings. D.C. finished the year with a 95-67 record. To everybody's delight Benton was voted the 2016 Eastern Semi-Pro Circuit Manager of the Year by the baseball writers. "Mr. Benton doesn't take any nonsense. If you aren't doing your job, he's not afraid to call you on it," noted one of his ballplayers. "But the team wouldn't want to play for anyone else. He's tough, demanding, but he treats everyone fairly and doesn't play favorites. Nobody gets pampered on his ballclub." |
