Taylor Says Goodbye to Baseball Thursday, September 29th , 2016 Detroit reliever Andy Taylor won't be back next year. The 41-year-old announced plans today to retire at the end of the 2016 campaign, saying that it was time to call it a career. "I could probably play another year," Taylor said, "but I don't have that fire you need to play well. And I'm not going out there on those terms. It's a disservice to the Chargers and baseball in general. There are just too many aches and pains in this old body for me to continue playing." During his career, Taylor has compiled a 68-89 mark, pitched in 231 games, been credited with 5 saves and posted a 4.36 ERA. He has 1373 strikeouts in 1357.2 innings pitched. |
