Thompson Hits Record-Setting Blast Saturday, September 17th , 2016 An amazing season for Malachi Thompson reached its climax today, as the Edmonton Drillers's first baseman set the league record for most home runs in a single season with 35, passing the great Vitaliano Brancati. Fans at Drillers Field gave him a long, loud ovation after the historic blast. Malachi Thompson doubled in the 2nd, grounded out in the 3rd and homered off John Stone in the 5th. Thompson is hitting .293 in 2016 with 110 RBIs and 35 home runs. |
