Tampa Bay Goes Hitless Against Hunter Sunday, July 17th , 2016 New York City Blues starter John Hunter said he was standing behind the mound when the scoreboard caught his eye, confirming what he already knew: He was one out from a no-hitter. For a couple of seconds, he didn't move. "I took a breath and told myself 'This is the last one,'" Hunter recalled. The right-hander collected himself, got the final out, and finished one of the greatest performances of his career. The New York City right-hander no-hit the Tampa Bay Thunder, 2-0, at Blues Field, finishing with 4 walks and 9 strikeouts, facing only 31 batters. "I knew for a while it was a no-hitter," Hunter admitted later. "But I really didn't worry about it until the last out.
