Tampa Bay Goes Hitless Against Hunter
New York City Blues starter John Hunter said he was standing behind the mound when the scoreboard caught his eye, confirming what he already knew: He was one out from a no-hitter. For a couple of seconds, he didn't move.

"I took a breath and told myself 'This is the last one,'" Hunter recalled.

The right-hander collected himself, got the final out, and finished one of the greatest performances of his career.

The New York City right-hander no-hit the Tampa Bay Thunder, 2-0, at Blues Field, finishing with 4 walks and 9 strikeouts, facing only 31 batters.

"I knew for a while it was a no-hitter," Hunter admitted later. "But I really didn't worry about it until the last out. I thought I just wanted to win the game, and then I realized I wanted the no-hitter, too."

This year, Hunter has posted a 3-3 mark in 8 starts and has a 4.28 ERA.
