Cotton Strokes 5 Hits
Southern California first baseman Aaron Cotton had a big day at Empires Stadium against the Mexico City Aztecas. The 32-year-old, who is not typically considered a big threat with the bat, went 5-for-8 and led to the 9-5 Empires triumph over Mexico City.

"Hey, I'm as surprised as you guys are," Cotton said in his postgame comments, smiling as he scolded the press corps for underestimating him. "Maybe I'm not so bad at the plate after all."

Aaron Cotton doubled in the 1st, walked in the 4th, struck out in the 5th, was hit by a pitch in the 8th, struck out in the 10th, struck out in the 12th, singled in the 14th, doubled in the 16th, singled in the 18th and hit a GRAND SLAM off Ben Lanahan in the 20th.

Cotton is hitting .388 for the season with 3 home runs, 13 RBIs and 14 runs scored. He has 19 hits in 49 at-bats and played in 14 games.
