Denver, Atlanta Agree to Swap Saturday, November 28th , 2015 You can't always get what you want, but sometimes you find a deal anyway. The Baseball News Network is reporting that Denver and Atlanta have made a swap with 28-year old 1B Jim Blanchard being shipped to the Pilots and in return the Cutthroats would get 26-year old RHP Jonathan Benders. Denver general manager Keven Berman said the two sides were close to a blockbuster trade before agreeing upon a smaller scale transaction. "This is just a bit of housekeeping compared to what we wanted to do," he said. "I won't name names, but the potential deal we were close to making would have certainly grabbed some headlines." A source inside the Denver organization said the two sides might not be done dealing, and another transaction could be in the works. In his career, Blanchard has hit .285 with 347 hits, 61 home runs, 191 RBIs and scored 168 runs. Through the years Benders has fashioned a 14-15 mark, 4.59 ERA and thrown 245.1 innings. Opposing clubs are batting .282 lifetime against him and he has logged 201 career strikeouts. |
