Cutthroats Send Houston Home with 6-3 Loss
The Denver Cutthroats knocked off the Houston Mavericks, 6-3, in Professional Baseball Circuit action at Mavericks Ballpark. Denver pitcher and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, native Nate Kelley had an outstanding performance. The winner was Kelley. He threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Jerry Ericks. Rafael Martinez earned the save for Denver.

The Cutthroats got a big at-bat from shortstop Sandy Rivas. For the game, Rivas went 1 for 4 with a triple. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the top of the second, with the bases loaded, he stroked a bases-clearing triple. His 1st triple of the season gave Denver a 5-2 lead.

"Nate had good stuff. When he did get into a compromising count, he made the most of it," said Denver manager Keven Berman.

The loss drops the Mavericks to 7-4.
