The St. Louis Lions topped the Miami Sun Sox, 7-4, in 11 innings. St. Louis designated hitter Andy Kifer, in particular, was impressive. He was 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, 2 singles, and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Christophe Georges, 1-0, earned the win in relief. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits in 2.2 innings. Ryan Reutter earned the save for St. Louis.

St. Louis used the timely hitting of Steve Rucker to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Lions on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"We'll grab a cold beverage tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Rucker said.

The win brings the Lions to 6-4, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.
