Vacaville Moves on to SPBC Classic Series
|
While it wasn't a complete mismatch, the Vacaville Steelheads showed themselves to be the superior team in the Division Championship Series, downing the Newark Eagles 4-1.
"Nothing is ever easy in the Semi-Pro Baseball Circuit playoffs. Whether you're a favorite or an underdog, you can't take anyone lightly or you'll get burned," said Tony Barksdale, who was named series MVP after a standout offensive performance.
Vacaville won the final game by a 5-1 count at Eagles Park to clinch its spot in the next round.
They will hope to once again rely on Barksdale there, as he hit .455 with 0 home runs, 2 RBI 2 runs scored during the series.
The Vacaville Steelheads don't know who they will face in the next round. They will play the winner of the Mexico City Aztecas - Sherbrooke Canadians series. Sherbrooke leads the series 3 games to 2. The SPBC Classic Series schedule will be announced after the Division Championship Series finishes.
