Wet weather did not postpone the Detroit-Boston ballgame.

The timely hitting of Joaquin Alvarez helped the Detroit Motors down the Boston Shamrocks, 12-1. Alvarez was 3-5 with 2 home runs. He scored 3 times and drove in 7 for the Motors. Sean Hearn went 5 innings for Detroit to pick up the win. The right-hander was charged with 1 run. He scattered 4 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 5. His record improves to 5-4.

With Detroit leading 8-0 in the top of the sixth, Alvarez came up to bat against Boston pitcher Landon Griffith. Alvarez hit a fastball to left for a grand slam home run. His 7th home run of the season put the Motors on top, 12-0.

Boston manager Hooman Placeholder II summed up his team's performance in one word: "Pitiful."
