Mavericks Come Back Late, Nip Titans
|
Bobby Anderson did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Toronto Titans from being beaten, 5-4, to the Houston Mavericks at Mavericks Ballpark. Anderson was 3-3 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI. Matthew Browning, credited with the win in relief, is now 5-1. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. The Mavericks are now 31-20, while the Titans fall to 15-36.
The Mavericks were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth inning, when 26-year old designated hitter Neal Lasher landed a big blow. He turned a 2-1 sinker from Jose Sierra into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent the Mavericks Ballpark denizens into a frenzy and sent the Mavericks home with a thrilling 5-4 win.
"This joint was rocking," said Lasher.
