Dallas 8-5 Losers to Mavericks
|
The Houston Mavericks beat the Dallas Texans, 8-5, at Mavericks Ballpark. Marc Fisher went 2 for 3 with 2 singles and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs. The 30-year old right fielder was a menace to Dallas all day. Houston pitcher Jon Lund got the win. He's now 9-7. Nick Manning was tagged with the loss. Brian Farmer earned the save for Houston, his 2nd of the year.
Sam Carn had a big bases-clearing double for the Mavericks in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Houston trailing 5-4 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Nick Manning and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 9th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Mavericks ahead, 7-5.
Said losing manager Jesus Sanchez: "These are the grinding hard days that all good teams go through, and this is when we've got to stick together and believe in one another."
The Texans, now 28-50, have lost 9 straight.
