Denver designated hitter Jim Blanchard was sensational. He went 2 for 5 with 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Miami beat the Cutthroats, 8-6. The win went to Jason Jordan in relief. His record improves to 2-0. Jim Jordan took the loss. Josh Hensley, credited with the save, is now 9 for 14 in save opportunities.

Jose Cruz was 2-4 with 2 singles. He scored 2 runs for Miami. The 25-year old catcher had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 6-6 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Jim Jordan. It was his 30th RBI of the season.

"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Cruz said.

Miami goes to 24-43, Denver to 34-33.
