Big Day at the Plate for Medina Not Enough for Mavericks
The New York City Blues had to overcome a big game from Houston catcher Ernesto Medina to leave Mavericks Ballpark with a victory. And they did, winning, 10-9. Medina was 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. New York City reliever Chris Rice was credited with the win. His record goes to 1-0. Teagan Read took the loss for Houston. New York City is now 39-27, 5½ games up in the North Division.

The Blues beat the Mavericks in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Paul Silver produced in the top of the eighth. Batting against Matthew Browning, Silver gave his team the lead, 8-6, when he hit a 2-run single.

Silver told reporters after the game: "Took some doing, but we got it done."
