Texans Collect 5-4 Win Over Thunder
|
The Dallas Texans knocked off the Tampa Bay Thunder, 5-4, at The Thunder Bowl. Andy Manthey was a big reason Dallas won. The left fielder went 3 for 4 with 2 doubles and 2 walks. He scored 3 runs. The winner was Ben Kramer in relief. His record improves to 1-0. Akihisa Shibuya took the loss. Chris McCarty earned the save for Dallas, his 4th.
It could have been a different outcome for Dallas, had it not been for Ashton Shelton, the 28-year old shortstop . Shelton contributed a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the 11th inning to put Dallas up, 5-4.
"There's no quit in this team," said Texans manager Jesus Sanchez.
The last-place Texans own a record of 15-29.
