Briddell Tosses 3-0 Shutout for Green Bay
The Detroit Chargers were almost helpless in their 3-0 loss to the Green Bay Braves and hurler Jay Briddell. Briddell kept the Chargers confused all game, spinning a 9-hit shutout.

"Tip your hat to Briddell," Detroit manager Kirila Lemana said in a postgame interview. "He kept us off balance all night."

The 34-year-old left-hander had 3 walks and 8 strikeouts in a strong performance.

"It just happened to be one of those games where even when I made mistakes, they either fouled them off or someone would make a fine defensive play," Briddell said. "It was just one of those games that things went my way."

Briddell has made 15 starts, tossed 86 innings, struck out 66 batters and walked 76. His record is 2-8 with a 6.80 ERA and he has limited other teams to a .330 batting average.
