The bad news for the Detroit Motors: an opening day loss, 10-4, to the El Paso Diablos at The Motor Yard. The good news: it was just game one in a long season. No one played better than Kevin Brown. He went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Jesse Steele, who finished 3rd in the PBC in ERA with 2.28 in 2013, was the winner. He's now 1-0. The loser was Bryan Smith.

Austin Ottens had a big run-scoring double for the Diablos in the top of the second inning. With El Paso leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from Bryan Smith and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Diablos ahead, 2-0.

"I was seeing the ball well tonight," said Ottens.
