Thunder Dismiss Warriors, 4-3
|
Shane Wilder did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Washington Warriors from being beaten, 4-3, to the Tampa Bay Thunder at The Thunder Bowl. Wilder was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk, while scoring 2 runs. Justin Denton, who finished 2nd in the PBC in saves with 23 in 2013, earned the save for Tampa Bay. The loss has the Warriors at 9-3.
Darnell Phillips went 1-2 with a walk. He drove in 2 runs for Tampa Bay. The slugging center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With no one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Scott Roland. It was his 10th RBI of the season.
Phillips attributed the win to his team's "grittiness."
