Prest Heroics Not Enough in 9-3 Loss to Houston
Fans brought energy and enthusiasm to the Boston Shamrocks home opener. Cortez Crus started for the home team against Luke Whalen for the Houston Mavericks. The Shamrocks were unable to reward the home crowd with a win. The final score was 9-3, Houston. Arlen Prest, though, was impressive. Luke Whalen earned the win, while 25-year old left-handed pitcher Cortez Crus took the loss for Boston.

Houston used the hitting of Gian-Carlo Aquilina to pick up the win. The shortstop clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Mavericks on top, 9-2. For the game, Aquilina had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"We didn't get the results that we wanted," said Boston skipper Hooman Placeholder.
