Aztecas Reliever Valerio Injured Sunday, October 16th , 2011 The Mexico City Aztecas learned that Miguel Valerio is likely to be out for 4 months after he injured himself throwing a pitch in today's game against the Vacaville Steelheads. A round of tests by the team doctor revealed the injury to be a torn back muscle. Upon hearing the diagnosis, the Mexico City manager told the press, "As you all know, we can't control injuries -- they are a part of the game. We just have to do the best we can until Miguel is back in action." This season, Valerio has been credited with no saves in 2 relief appearances. In 67 innings he has a 5-2 won-lost mark, 4.70 ERA and 52 strikeouts |
