Wesley Raps 3 HR Against Fleetwings Wednesday, September 28th , 2011 Newark Eagles first baseman Dan Wesley put on a dazzling display of power at Eagles Park against the Allentown Fleetwings. In the 8-2 Eagles victory, Wesley penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Allentown manager Ryan Carlson said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 29-year-old had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, 6 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Wesley said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." Dan Wesley grounded out in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Hector Terrones in the 5th, hit a three-run home run off Hector Terrones in the 6th and hit a two-run home run off Rod Montoya in the 8th. This year, Wesley has collected a .247 batting average to date with 72 hits in 291 at-bats, 58 RBIs, 21 home runs and scored 46 times. He has played in 80 games. |
