Empires Take Tight Tangle
The Southern California Empires had to overcome a fine effort from Quebec City pitcher John Frost to win, 5-4, at Empires Stadium. Frost went 7 innings and allowed 3 runs. Southern California reliever Keith Feldman was the winner. His record is now 3-2. The losing pitcher was T.J. Johnson. With the victory, the Empires record stands at 37-24.

The decisive blow was delivered by Bob Fernandez in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a 2-run home run off 33-year old right-handed pitcher T.J. Johnson to win the game for Southern California. The home crowd went nuts.

"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Fernandez.
