3-HR Dream Game for Rentz Saturday, October 11th , 2008 Las Vegas Rollers first baseman Zach Rentz put on a dazzling display of power at Vegas Stadium against the Winnipeg Buffaloes. In the 8-4 Rollers victory, Rentz penned his name into the record books, slamming a trio of home runs in one of baseball's finest single-day efforts. "He can hit them out anywhere, right, center, left, it doesn't matter," Winnipeg manager Matt Bryant said. "He's super strong and stays on the ball so well." Along with his three home runs, the 33-year-old had 3 hits in 3 at-bats, 4 RBIs and 3 runs scored. "Life will always throw you curves, just keep fouling them off," Rentz said after the game, when asked about his hitting philosophy. "The right pitch will come, and when it does, be prepared to run the bases. Or trot around them, like I did today." Zach Rentz hit a two-run home run off Ian Estes in the 1st, walked in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Ian Estes in the 5th and hit a solo-shot off Pete Burrow in the 7th. |
