With starter Matt Hemmelgarn leading the charge, the Winnipeg Buffaloes defeated the Vacaville Steelheads, 5-1, in Game 2 of the Division Championship Series. The right-hander threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball at Ballpark of Vacaville to help Winnipeg take a 2-0 lead in the best-of-7 series.

Matt Westfall broke a 0-0 tie in the top of the second with a run-scoring walk. It put the Buffaloes in front, 1-0. For the game, Westfall drew 1 walk.

"I was able to fill up the zone," said Hemmelgarn.

The next game is set to be played for Saturday, October 4th , 2008 at Goldeyes Park in Winnipeg.
