A nice crowd turned out for a clash between the Southern California Empires and Newark Eagles.
Southern California Empires starter Mark Fielding kept the Newark Eagles hitters in check, leading his team to a comfortable 6-1 win. Fielding picked up the win for Southern California, going 8.1 innings. He gave up 1 run on 7 hits. He now sports a record of 3-2.
The Empires got a big at-bat from right fielder Chris Ramirez. For the game, Ramirez went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with a runner on 1st, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 1st home run of the season gave Southern California a 3-1 lead.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Ramirez told a Southern California Times reporter. "Sometimes we just need to relax."
