Detroit starter Jimmy Gubbels pitched effectively against the Allentown Fleetwings at Chargers Field. The right-hander led his team to a win, 5-3. Justin Martin finished to wrap up his 1st save. The Chargers move to 34-36 with the win, while the Fleetwings drop to 37-33.

Cody Vannette had a big 2-run home run for the Chargers in the bottom of the third inning. With Detroit leading 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 34-year old right-handed pitcher Mike Aloe and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Chargers on top, 4-1.

Detroit manager Carlos Ventura commended his team for delivering "maximum effort."
