Braves Turn Away Senators, 4-2
|
Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Green Bay Braves got the win.
The Albany Senators went down to defeat to Mike Schraufnagel and his Green Bay teammates. The final score was 4-2, in favor of the Braves. The winner was Schraufnagel. He threw 6.2 innings of 5-hit ball. The loser was Bill Kuhn.
Green Bay first baseman T.J. Baxa contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a sinker to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 44th hit of the season and put the Braves ahead, 4-2.
After the game, Green Bay manager Joe Sanchez applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said.
The win for the Braves raised their record to 37-33.
