Empires Absorb 5-2 Loss at Vegas Stadium
|
The Las Vegas Rollers picked up a win at Vegas Stadium, knocking off the Southern California Empires, 5-2. On the mound for Las Vegas was right-hander Tony Vadi. He played a key role in the triumph. The winner was Vadi. He threw 7.0 innings of 2-hit ball. The loser was Mobumasu Tsuji. Chris Clary finished the game for Las Vegas and earned his 1st save.
The Rollers got a big at-bat from left fielder Jason Robinson. For the game, Robinson went 1-3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the third, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 14th home run of the season gave Las Vegas a 3-2 lead.
"No one likes losing," said Southern California manager John Andrews. "We've hit a tough patch, but we're going to get through it."
The Rollers, at 36-28, have now won 5 straight.
