In a low-scoring affair between the Albany Senators and the Mexico City Aztecas, pitcher Josh Pizzo was the difference between victory and defeat. The Albany right-hander earned kudos in the 3-2 Senators win. Pizzo yielded 2 runs over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 9 hits, walked 3, and struck out 7. His record improves to 8-3. Jim Feldman got credit for the save for Albany. It was his 7th of the year.
Had Luke Martinson not delivered a key base hit in the top of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 2nd and 3rd, Martinson hit a 2-run single. That made the score 3-1, in favor of the Senators.
"I executed the game plan," said Pizzo.
The second-place Senators sport a record of 27-20.
