Kowal Hits Two Dingers, Eagles Win, 6-4
|
Newark first baseman Dave Kowal contributed significantly to his team's 6-4 win over the Albany Senators. Kowal, who is tied for 2nd in the SPBC in bases on balls with 40, went 2 for 3 with 3 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Eagles. Oscar Loza picked up the win with 6.1 innings of work. He allowed 4 runs on 9 hits, while walking 4 and striking out 8. On the season, he is now 6-1. The Eagles are now 20-20, while the Senators fall to 24-16.
With Newark leading 2-1 in the bottom of the fifth, Kowal hit a fastball from Alan Staubitz for a 2-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season and put the Eagles ahead, 4-1.
"It felt good to put the barrel on the ball," said Kowal.
