Rick Bowen, who is tied for 3rd in the SPBC with a 1.84 ERA, imposed his will on the Capitals from the get-go. Relying mainly on his curveball, the right-hander spearheaded the 4-0 Quebec City triumph. The winner was Bowen. He threw 6.2 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Markus Niemikorpi. Quebec City is now 19-16. Ottawa is 21-14.
Jonathan Lieberman, who is tied for 10th in the SPBC in doubles with 8, had a direct impact on the outcome. Lieberman contributed a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to put Quebec City up, 1-0.
