Starting pitcher Aidan Kelly gave the Southern California Empires a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the Albany Senators, 2-0, at Senators Field. The Empires, now 18-16, know that wins in July count the same as wins in September.

Johnny Stokes, who is on pace to hit 18 home runs this season, had a direct impact on the outcome. Stokes contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the first inning to put Southern California up, 1-0.

"We did just enough to win," Stokes said.
