Canadians Grind Out 2-0 Win
|
The Sherbrooke Canadians claimed a close win over the Edmonton Drillers, due in large part to Chris Harpel. The Sherbrooke right-hander pitched a great game to secure the 2-0 win. Harpel got the win, improving to 5-2. He gave up 7 hits and walked 2 over 7 innings. He allowed no runs. Warren Kolbe picked up the save for Sherbrooke, his 3rd of the year.
Jim Crosby had a big run-scoring double for the Canadians in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Sherbrooke leading 1-0 and a runner on 2nd, he got a fastball from Jacob Simpson, who finished 3rd in the SPBC in strikeouts with 138 in 2005, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Canadians ahead, 2-0.
"We'll enjoy this ride as long as it lasts," said Canadians manager John Guzman.
The Drillers have now dropped 5 straight.
