|
Winnipeg first baseman Dennis Ziemer was sensational. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Ottawa beat the Buffaloes, 4-3. Brian Miller got the win, improving to 3-0. He worked 6.2 innings, giving up 3 runs on 8 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 4. Chris Kaplan earned the save for Ottawa, his 7th of the year.
Mike Barrows, who is a two-time All-Star, aided the Ottawa cause with a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the second baseman went 1 for 3.
Barrows called the win a test of his team's "mettle."
The Capitals, now 12-5, have played inspired baseball.
