Eagles, Quinn Pin Bad Loss on Fleetwings
Newark left fielder Ian Quinn contributed significantly to his team's 10-2 win over the Allentown Fleetwings. Quinn, who finished 2nd in the SPBC in hits with 133 in 2005, went 4 for 4 with 2 runs scored to lead the offensive attack for the Eagles. Oscar Loza, the winner, goes to 2-0. He allowed 2 runs on 9 hits, with 6 walks and 8 strikeouts over 7.1 innings. The win gives Newark a record of 9-6.

The Fleetwings had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Eagles going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 36-year old first baseman John Wayne came to the plate. Wayne hit a 2-run home run on a 1-1 curveball from Allentown hurler Tom Clifton. It was Wayne's 2nd home run of the year.

"Enjoyed this one," Quinn told the Newark Daily News. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
