Capitals Even With Eagles After Extra-Innings Win
The Ottawa Capitals and the Newark Eagles will take the Division Series to a decisive 5th game. Facing a must-win situation at Eagles Park, the Capitals beat the Eagles, 3-2, in extra innings to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Ottawa right-hander Scott Lovely had a standout performance. He threw 7.0 innings allowing 1 run.

The game was at a stalemate until shortstop Ted Waltrip came to bat in the top of the 11th. Facing Newark pitcher Sid Brumbley, he hit a 1-0 cutter for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Ottawa on top, 3-2.

"Things broke our way today and that's great," Capitals manager Mike House said. "It's important, though, to stay focused and not pat yourself on the back too much. We aren't done yet."

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Capitals Stadium in Ottawa.
