The Newark Eagles moved to within one game of the Division Championship Series, downing the visiting Ottawa Capitals at Eagles Park by a score of 5-4. Eagles right-hander Allberto Menagem had a strong outing in which he threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball. The win gives the Eagles a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 Division Series.

Had Juan Moctezuma not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the seventh, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Moctezuma hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 2-1, in favor of the Eagles.

"Allberto gave us a really strong effort," said Newark manager Elijah Jackson.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Eagles Park in Newark.
