Empires Make It 4 Straight with 3-2 Win
The Southern California Empires picked up a win at Empires Stadium, topping the Vacaville Steelheads, 3-2. On the mound for Southern California was right-hander Jason Davis. He played a principal role in the triumph. In 7 innings, Davis surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 9 and walking 2. He allowed 2 runs. Picking up his 2nd save was 28-year old right-handed pitcher Jeff Crouse.

Eric Larremore had a big 2-run home run for the Empires in the bottom of the second inning. With Southern California leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a changeup from Andy Taylor, who leads the SPBC in strikeouts with 174, and punished it. The result was his 12th home run of the season, which put the Empires on top, 3-0.

"Nervous? No," said Davis. "It was my time to shine."
