Buffaloes Lose By a Run at Vacaville
|
The Vacaville Steelheads picked up a win at Ballpark of Vacaville, topping the Winnipeg Buffaloes, 3-2. On the mound for Vacaville was right-hander Jim Brink. He played a principal role in the triumph. In 6.2 innings, Brink surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 8 and walking 3. He allowed no runs. Chris LaBriola earned the save, his 17th.
Jared Herrick had a big solo home run for the Steelheads in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Vacaville leading 2-0 and the bases empty, he got a splitter from 34-year old right-handed pitcher Sang-hyuk Park and swatted a home run to right-center. It was his 24th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Steelheads ahead, 3-0.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Winnipeg manager Matt Bryant, "let me know."
The loss makes Winnipeg 38-46.
