Para Goes Off, But Steelheads Win
Mexico City got a terrific game from second baseman Xavier Para. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Vacaville, 11-8. Para was 4 for 5 with 2 home runs and 2 doubles, while adding 6 RBI and scoring twice. Johnny McGee got credit for the win, improving to 11-6. He allowed 5 runs on 8 hits in 6.1 innings. Vacaville is now 44-35.

The Steelheads got a big hit from first baseman Ross Dowty. Facing Mexico City pitcher David Martin in the bottom of the sixth, Dowty pounded a grand slam home run to left. His 5th home run of the season put the Steelheads ahead, 8-3.

"It was our day today," Dowty told the Vacaville Observer. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."
