Steelheads Get One-Run Win at Saskatoon
|
Rhys Fox pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Saskatoon Moose, despite Fox's fine outing, dropped a 3-2 decision to the Vacaville Steelheads at Moose Grounds. Andy Taylor got the win, improving to 7-7. He worked 5 innings, giving up 1 run on 5 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 6. The Steelheads, at 39-35, sit in 4th place in the West Division.
Andy Boyd, who is tied for 6th in the SPBC in stolen bases with 22, had a direct impact on the outcome. Boyd contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Vacaville up, 2-0.
"Tough loss," said Saskatoon manager Rick Schaunaman. "But we'll learn from it."
