Schulz Clouts 2 Homers in 12-6 Vacaville Win
|
The Vacaville Steelheads topped the Edmonton Drillers, 12-6, with left fielder Danny Schulz playing a big role. Schulz hit 2 home runs. He drove in 5 runs and scored twice for the Steelheads in the win. Vacaville starter Johnny McGee was credited with the win after throwing 97 pitches over 5.2 innings. His record now stands at 9-6. Asa Kellogg wrapped it up, recording his 3rd save.
Schulz contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Vacaville in the top of the third. With his team trailing 3-1, Schulz took a fastball from Jon Walter and stroked the home run to left-center. His 15th home run of the season allowed the Steelheads to leap in front, 4-3.
"I'm just trying to make good contact," said Schulz, "one at-bat at a time."
With the win over Edmonton, the Steelheads improved to 32-32.
