Starting pitcher Izaiah Sanders gave the Albany Senators a rock-solid effort. The Kennewick, Washington native helped his team defeat the Quebec City Admirals, 3-1, at Senators Field. Sanders yielded no runs over 6.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 3 hits, walked 4, and struck out 5. His record improves to 1-2. Austin Richards closed out the game, earning his 6th save.
Boutros Mukuru, who is a three-time All-Star, chipped in a solo home run for Albany in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the second baseman had 2 hits in 3 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI.
"This game will humble you at times and you've got to buck up and deal with it," said Quebec City manager Curtis Holtz.
The second-place Senators hiked their record to 36-27.
