Caracals Edge Past Aztecas, 4-3

The Mexico City Aztecas got a superb performance from pitcher Jim Sammartino, but the Calgary Caracals still won the game, 4-3. Sammartino threw 6.0 innings of 4-hit ball. The winner was Calgary reliever John Stockton, now 4-1. The loser was Edgardo Chavez. The Caracals, at 39-23, sit in second place in the West Division.
Ruben Anguiano played the role of hero for Calgary. In the bottom of the ninth, he launched a solo home run off Edgardo Chavez to win the game. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was the decisive blow.
"Sometimes you get the ball in the right spot and it goes," said Anguiano.
