Big Day for Cordova as Moose Down Chargers, 7-0
|
The Saskatoon Moose beat the Detroit Chargers by a score of 7-0. Saskatoon right fielder Jon Cordova deserved the lion's share of the credit. Cordova was 4 for 5 with a home run and 3 singles. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Moose. Rhys Fox went 7 innings for Saskatoon to pick up the win. The left-hander was charged with no runs. He scattered 1 hit, while walking 5 and striking out 11. His record improves to 10-0. The win makes Saskatoon 35-17.
With Saskatoon leading 4-0 in the top of the ninth, Cordova batted against Detroit pitcher Mike Noble. Cordova hit a fastball to left-center for a 3-run home run. His 12th home run of the season put the Moose on top, 7-0.
"I'm just looking to see the ball, hit the ball," said Cordova.
