Extra-Inning Walk-Off Win for Empires
|
The Quebec City Admirals could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Allan Tiefel into a win. Instead, the Southern California Empires prevailed, 5-3, in 10 innings. Tiefel threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball. Reliever Brian Wilson picked up the win. His record improves to 5-1. Nick MacDonald took the loss. Southern California is now 25-23, Quebec City 25-23.
The climactic moment came in the bottom of the tenth for Southern California. That's when 28-year old catcher Eric Larremore hit a 2-run home run off Cody Reilly to win the game. The home crowd erupted in celebration.
In postgame remarks, Larremore said: "I'm proud of our guys, of their fight."
