Fleetwings Use Late Rally to Win
|
The Allentown Fleetwings and Edmonton Drillers completed their game despite the inclement weather.
Despite a great performance by Edmonton third baseman Kent Beaton, the Allentown Fleetwings defeated the Drillers by the score of 3-1 at Drillers Field. Beaton was 4-4 with a home run, 3 singles, and a walk. Zach Blumke closed out the game, earning his 10th save.
Chris Tarter came through with a big-time hit for Allentown. The designated hitter smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to give his team the lead, 3-1. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"We came in and did what we needed to do," said Allentown manager Craig McCain.
The Fleetwings saw their win-loss record go to 23-24. At the same time, the Drillers fell to 27-20.
