The Ottawa Capitals clipped the Allentown Fleetwings, 6-3, in 11 innings at Fleetwings Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Ottawa pitcher and Cave Spring, Virginia, native Jason Kepke. The winner in relief was Jonathan Shores. The left-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings. He now owns a record of 2-0. The win boosted Ottawa to 13-7.
Eric Fales came through with a big-time hit for Ottawa. The left fielder smacked a 3-run home run in the top of the 11th inning to give his team the lead, 6-3. It was his only hit, but it was clutch.
"Main thing is I want the team to win," Kepke told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."
